COMPRESSIONOF AN ART OBJECT

... foolish ...
colorfully painted stones behind glass in the sinking cube

500 colorful stones, originally from the aspern Seestadt, from women, men and children painted on November 11, 2011 from 11:11 a.m., delighted visitors of the Hirschstetten flower gardens for five years in an eight-part gabion cube object.
Now the «foolish stones„ are presented behind glass, like precious stones in one Shrine, in the «sinking cube».

In her art installation, YOLY takes up the extraordinary date of the beginning of the time of fools in 2011 and, as it were, holds up a mirror to the art world by taking stones from the construction site of the largest urban development project, having them painted by laypeople on the theme of the date and in a further step forms an art object from these «foolish stones».
But this eight-part art installation is also subject to a process - after 5 years of presence in public space, YOLY condenses the stones and thus the idea by only allowing the public to look through a window into a shrine, the «sinking cube».
